Building Resilience conference - April 15th-16th 2010 - Sydney
Lyn was invited to present at "Building Resilience - From Surviving to Thriving", a conference organised by the Mental Health Association NSW. It was a wonderful event with an impressive array of speakers, who addressed resilience in the workplace, schools, community and culture.
Lyn presented the keynote address for the resilience and schools stream. The Resilience Doughnut continues to impact people, and we were busy at our stall in all the breaks with people wanting to know more! Ruth Fordyce, Lyn's colleague, facilitated a workshop on the Resilience Doughnut and its application in schools and youth services. Again there was a wonderful response from teachers and youth workers, including a request to take our training out to Western NSW. Stay tuned for later in the year! Julie McCrossin was the MC of the conference, and an absolute joy to see in action!! Some of our other highlights from the conference: - Professor Tim Sharp from the Happiness Institute - very practical tips from the world of positive psychology
- Dr Lynn McAtamney, who manages all of Telstra's staff wellbeing programs - an inspiring presenter on many levels
- The schools stream, in which Dr Toni Noble and Cay Camden presented, as well as Lyn. There was a common theme evident throughout these presentations that building student resilience and wellbeing is vital in schools, but is also achievable, with a number of practical tools now available to schools.
